I didn't even last a week!
I headed to pets at home tonight to prepare for maybe maybe getting another ham soon. I wanted to wait a little bit after the loss of my little Butts. You all know how that goes though, pets at home trip with an empty cage waiting?
Half an hour later I have a beautiful little rescue syrian on the train back home (she was very chilled out, hardly cared) with a bag of carefresh and a new house! She's somewhere between 6 months and a year (so who knows) and was given up because kids had lost interest. The shop lady keeps hams herself and seemed pretty good with them and she said she was a bit nippy from lack of handling but despite her name being Nibbles there hasn't been a nibble yet and she has had a few opportunities.
The name is being changed! That's what I want some advice on! She's a lovely blonde kind of golden. She's much lighter than Butts was anyway and her fur is beautifully shiny, someone can tell me if its a satin coat when I get some real pictures!
So far I have Phoebe, Cersei, Honey, Kitty or Lily. And I have a little video I snatched when she was busy freaking out about having more than 6 inches of space to run around in! Hello new friend! - YouTube the video is terrible I know but I didn't want to disturb her and I really had to show my bf something since he didn't get any input this time once she has a real name I'll make her a proper thread!

aww what a love - she looks Satin and she looks like a Yellow! They are not so common and are real madams. I'm not certain though from the short video. Congratulations

Re: I didn't even last a week!
I really liked Kitty but just after I posted this I sent the video to friend and she showed her adorable toddler...
So Circle Cat is now her name, to be shortened daily to Ceecee! he's only 2 and a bit so he doesn't know the word hamster yet!

Re: I didn't even last a week!
I have a little house for her but she doesn't seem to be wanting to use it? That's where I placed all the wood shavings the pet store gave me so I thought it would be the first place she would go. I guess she's maybe used to sleeping in a big pile of shavings, should I give her some shavings for an open nest? I have some spare. She has enough carefresh that she could make an open nest if she wanted though.
For the minute she's hardly out of her wheel. I check up on her every hour or so and every time she's running so I guess I did one thing right! Now I've thoroughly washed it though the wheel is squeaking but that's my problem

Hi Shannon, congrats on your newbie, so gr8 that you have adopted her, It's a shame when kids lose interest after a few months and well, she's in good hands now! She'll need time to adapt to her new home and adoptive mummy, so her not using the house is nothing to worry about, she just wants to put herself about a bit (excuse the pun) ha-ha!

Re: I didn't even last a week!
She's found it now and from the sounds of things shes chewing through the walls. At least her teeth won't suffer I guess! I think I might have found a weird one!
