Default Hamsters in the news

A thread for the unlikely event of a hamster making a news story! After having read 2 in one day I thought it appropriate to share!
Hamster sparks blaze destroying family home and killing two pet dogs and a chinchilla - Mirror Online

What was she thinking putting the cage on the oven in the first place?!

It's a Chew-vrolet: Hungry hamster behind £2,400 damage to rental car - Mirror Online

God knows how this hammy lived on just eating car parts!

I love how they blame the hamster! As if he meant to do it "I'll teach her for moving me into the kitchen, if it's the last thing I do! Muhaha"

That first story was horrible, how did the hamster cause the fire? The woman moving the hamster onto the cooker (bloody hell) caused the fire, and the poor thing perished, awful At least the second story had a nice ending!

i would never put a cage on top of my cooker, what was she thinking, plus if my cooker isn't being used it's switched off at the wall not just the switches on the cooker itself as they can get caught.

Why would you put a hamsters cage on top of a COOKER???!!

Couldn't she put the cage on top of a cupboard, fridge or put it in the bathroom and lick the door???

Some people behave like they don't have a brain. Because of her stupidity she killed all her pets and destroyed her home. Plus, if you decide to get a hamster I think you are aware that it's going to make a noise.

At least the second story ended happily. But the thing that bothers me: where did the hammy get water from?? I know there is water in the engine but you have to unscrew the cap to get to it??

That first story is so sad, and I agree, the headline does make it seem as if it was somehow the hamster's fault for everything that happened.

That second one though, yikes! I LOL'd at the picture, the way his new owner is holding him with his face all squished up like that makes him look slightly demented. They could have titled the article, "Crazed Hamster Chews His Way Through Car"

As for the water, perhaps it was in a cool area and the hamster was able to drink the condensation that formed

LOL! Dave! Great typo! For a moment I thought you wanted her to lick the door to put a fire out.

It truely amazes me with some people are their stupidty. I bet she left the cooker on and the cage caught fire. I have never understood owners locking dogs in the kitchen, they aren't going to protect you there are they.

The second story did make me giggle, the Hammie looked very happy with himself. I guess he was training to be a car mechanic to help his new pet parent out.

The last story with the Hammie in the bar, makes me surprised all the things haven't been well chewed up.
