The playpens arrived

After much deliberation I ordered the Critterville playpen for Willow and Ebony to share, obviously NOT at the same
I also ordered another 12 inch Wonderland wheel, purely for the playpen because I didn't want the hassle of taking wheels out of their cages.
Both the playpen and the wheel arrived today

Willow had gone back to bed when they arrived but Ebony was still up and wreaking havoc in her cage as is normal for her LOL so I put an old exercise mat on the carpet and popped the playpen on top of it, I added the new wheel and a couple of spare bits I had laying around and put Ebony in there, in photo form this is how it went


That looks like my wheel but it doesn't smell like mine.....

Honestly it took her less than 5 minutes to climb out!
Doesn't she know how much all this stuff cost me?

Hahaha! I love how high these pens are but I love more how hamster still get out This is why I never bought one I just use the bath and a big cardboard box :P Looks she had fun anyway just not in the way you would have hoped

I have that exact play pen. Teddie has scooped the height out, I can tell, when she looks at the very top of the pen, unless she's admiring the ceiling. Lol. I'll defo be keeping a close watch when she's in it.

LOL she really is a character
Last night I put Willow in the pen, she managed about 10 minutes but only because she dug a hole in the mat before she climbed out!

I should have got males hams, I'm told n general terms they are much more relaxed, these females certainly are a handful LOL
No I would never change my girls, I love the fun they bring with them

Soooooo now I need to work out how to make a top and floor for this, it needs to be hamsterproof, detachable and easily storeable as I need to be able to fold it all up and put it away after use

Could you not buy another playpen and place it on the top and attach it with cable ties somehow to make a lid?

If you attached cardboard or something similar to the inside of the panels then they wouldnt be able to grip onto anything to climb out?

I did think about that but I didn't want to block the sides and close it in and they do enjoy climbing

In the end it was a really easy fix, a quick trip to B&Q for a sheet of white hardboard for the floor and a sheet of polycarbonate for the top both can slip under the sofa out of sight when the playpens not up
