Thank you DrK I will definately keep an eye on it
The wood is smooth, (the plastic base has some ridges so she had an easily accessible area to work at), hopefully she won't be able to get a start on the wood but if she does its easily replaceable
I can't think what else to do, I put her along with all her substrate and all her belongings into the bin yesterday whilst we worked on her cage, so she had all her own familiar things and smells but she hated it in there, she was totally stressed and in a panic all day. She was up on her hind legs manically 'window washing' the plastic sides non stop, I was in a panic that she would have sores on her feet when she came out so I don't think a bin or tank would work for her I can only hope that this fix works for her.

Re: arghhhhh Ebony.......
I think you came up with a really ingenious solution, Willow and I hope that Ebony "appreciates" your hard work and her refurbished surroundings and doesn't start tucking into the new structure.

It looks great, your woodworking skills are fantastic!
I had to laugh at Artisans_uk's comment about her "tucking in". My brain instantly conjured an image of a hammy with a napkin tied around her neck and tiny utensils in her paws, sitting on her haunches in front of your handiwork

Re: arghhhhh Ebony.......
Thank you everyone
So far so good I know it's still really early days BUT last night and today there has been no chewing at all YAY LOL
I just wish I'd had time to put some Plastikote on the wood, I wanted to paint blue stripes on it to match the shelves and ramp.

You and me both I wouldn't put anything past little Ebony
I need to move her cage away from Willows, Willow has always been such a good girl I don't want any bad influence on her LOL
I just checked my calendar, Ebony has been with me 7 weeks, she is now 12 weeks old

Lol, she should be presented with the bill! Take it out of her treat allowance or make her earn her keep with cuddles and cuteness
Your solution looks great, very imaginative! She'll have a hard time getting through that in a hurry!

Re: arghhhhh Ebony.......
Thanks Shannon
Is it too early to count my chickens?
It's been 4 days since fitting the wooden insert into the cage base. On day one (Sunday), Ebony threw everything out of all the corners checking it all out and probably looking for her original hole aswell on day 2 I put everything back in the corners and that is where it has all stayed It's Wednesday, that's 4 days and 3 nights and there has been no hiding behind anything trying to chew her way out, actually there has been no chewing of the wood whatsoever
We may, just may, have success
