Hamster playtime help
My hamster Lola, loves playtime. She'll run in her ball, play on my bed, play in the bath,(i dont put her in water, thats cruel) And even table time! But, the thing is, she seems bored with some of the stuff i do with her. And if Lola doesnt get play time, she gets really mad at me and wont come out when i call her. Please! I need some hamster playtime help! What should we play!?!?!

Re: Hamster playtime help
Mostly my hams just love exploring!
I give them a playpen and let them go crazy and explore boxes with things hidden inside or stuffed with bedding or Woodshavings.
I make sure there's tubes and seesaws and crinkle tunnels to run through, different levels so they can climb, holes in random places for them to crawl through and investigate some more.
Very little human interaction involved but I try to do a swap around.
Gloria is pretty active so I let her burn off energy in the pen while I cuddle a less energetic hamster, then we do a switch, Gloria comes for calmer cuddles while my other ham gets to poke around the playpen.
Both hams go back and I do a repeat with a different pair of hams.

Re: Hamster playtime help
Check out YouTube. Just run a search for DIY hamster playpen.
Someone makes one from a large cardboard box (the larger the better)
I made one the same way.
I think this is the one!

Re: Hamster playtime help
I bought a storage box from Wilko's and it came in a box twice the size of it. I didnt know what to do with it until I read this thread. I have made a playpen out of it. I just cut it in half along the sides and the small flaps. I used gaffer tape (duct tape) to join flaps to the top flap on both halves then overlap the halves so there is no gap where they join and tape it up. i then went around all joints and creases with the tape. The playpan is 51 inches x 30 inches x 8.5 inches high. 4ft 3in long x 2.5ft wide. Plenty of room for hams to run around in.
Not any good if you have a chewer hamster as they can chew their way out.

Re: Hamster playtime help
My hamster is not quite a big chewer which means a cardboard playpen would be ok, until she gets bored.

Re: Hamster playtime help
I upload my pics to photobucket then click on the pic and then click on the link to the right of the pic that starts [IMG and it says copied for about a second, then I right click on the post I am typing on and click on paste. You have to have tewo tabs or windows open to do this, one with the photobucket on and one with the forum page you want to post to on. You wont see the pic until you submit the thread / post, then you will see it.
