I voted Campbell's, Chinese, and LH/SH Syrian.
Saw a LH golden banded male at Petsmart the other day, he was small but with a full skirt. I came so close to taking him home....and I would have....but if I took him home and he got whatever my hamsters had and it killed him I don't think I could live with myself
.
I find people like Syrians more because they are calmer, but a well raised dwarfie can generally be just calm as a petshop Syrian in my experience
.
That said, baby dwarf hamsters are the silliest, most chaotic things ever. They really do calm down with age.
My chinese, the only chinese I've ever seen in person, is so, so sweet. He's a little shy, but so amazingly sweet! He is humanlike, with his big eyes, and you can see what's happening in his tiny head, he's such a sweet heart.
I love my Syrians. Love them to death. But, imho, I really don't see what's so great about them. They can be sweet, loving, and I know this, and I do love them and I feel awful when they're treated badly (Swiss), but if I wanted a cuddly pet who comes in multiple different colours/coatlengths, I'd get a guinea pig. I just feel like they're a lot of work, and they're so human-like you get so bonded, and they live such short lives that it's hard to let go after two short years. I wish hamsters lived 4-5 years!
Wait, no I don't. Then imagine how many abandoned hamsters there's be. :/
