Default Guessing a hamster's age...

Is there anyway to tell how old a hamster may be beyond infant and full grown?

A young hamster up to about 6months has a fine coating of downy fur all over its ears. Older hammies ears are bald and sometimes shiney. More pigment forms on the scent glands, ears and around the vents in older animals. From around 18months fur tends to be more patchy and less dense & claws can get longer too

that doesn't help much. lol. I could ask the pet store, since they're at the same mall that I work at, and they know me because my boyfriend and I go in there all the time. The thing is the little guy is TEENIE compared to Mimi, who's a syrian also. The only thing the petstore told my boyfriend when he picked it up is that he was slightly older than the other hamsters.

Teeth are also a good indicator of age. The more yellow the older the hammie.

He may have been the runt of the litter. They usually catch up to normal size by about 6months. Males are also smaller than females. Sometimes babies do look really small in comparison to adults but they do grow quickly
