Re: Just rescued a hamster!!
I've just read this thread and looked at the photos. Thank goodness that poor little hammy's been rescued by you. Tilly's jailers (I can't call them anything better or fit to post on a forum!) want banning from keeping pets!
Tilly's luck has changed thanks to you.
Hoping you'll be friends for a good, longtime.
Elaine

Tilly is now in a bin cage! She seems so happy! I've managed to stick her bottle on the side (without havin to mesh)!
I know it doesn't look that great, but I wanted something more cost effective than keep buying cage after cage, and she's a bar biter plus the cage she was in was tiny!!! I will eventually have to change the wheel when she gets a bit older as she will probably out grow it, she likes her flying saucer!
I know I need to add more toys and various things but for now she seems comfortable with what she has.
I'm gonna do a big zooplus order soon, ( I have other small animals and have to buy bedding in bulk) so will get her a few bits then. Like a wooden bottle holder lol.
Overall, she is a much happier hamster and deffo more healthy!! Still timid but that will go in time. So glad I got to her!

Re: Just rescued a hamster!!
Aww shes adorable, I don't know how people can treat an animal in such an appauling manner I adopted a campbell hybrid 2 days ago he was in p@h and he was for adoption because he hadn't been sold due to his appearance.. He's gorgeous I don't know why people didn't like him. P@H had him in a their smallest cage without a wheel and they had given him a massive chunk of apple which was all dried up and very smelly! Now he's settling into my Detolf cage with a flying saucer and wheel and on a strict diabetic diet, no more bad apple for him! If I am ever in a position where I have spare money then I want to open a hamster rescue centre, there are just far to many hammies being mistreated and neglected. Keep us updated on her progress, especially if her balls grow in

Re: Just rescued a hamster!!
Omg! Pets at home are proper rubbish! I want a job there so I can bring them all bin cages and lots of great wheels and toys then adopt them all!!
I got both my boys from the same pet shop, I got Snow White the same day he was put out for sale, 2 months later I went back and one of his brothers are still there, and he was absolutely gorgeous!!! Don't know how anyone could leave him! So I had him.
Well done for getting your little hammy out of p@h. He will have a lovely little life with you.
I was contemplating getting a hammy from p@h but id want them all so that's not a good idea ha ha!
No signs of balls yet, although a lot of Snow White screeching at her, and making wheezy squeaks to get her attention, then it sets Archie off and they both start so deffo a little girl haha!!

Yeah I hate P@H I bought two syrian hamsters about two weeks apart a couple of years ago from them, The first (Greg) would always screech and make strange noises and I came home one day to find him dead, no idea of the cause of death it was sudden and I couldn't see anything obvious I had him for a month. Second (Simon) was lovely but after 3 months I came home again and found him dead. Again no obvious signs as to why, he was in a different cage to greg so no disease or anything was transfered. After that experience I use a local pet store who sourced hammies from local breeders and I got Ledley who passed away of old age around November last year he was almost 3! Unfortunatly that shop now doesn't sell pets so I had to get Roselia from another pet shop but they assured me she was from a local breeder and I haven't had any troubles with her yet. I was a bit apprehensive of adopting Twix because I don't like P@H but I wanted him to have a better life and he had been there since June! Poor little thing, the store guy just grabbed him out of the cage, suprisingly little Twix didn't bite, he offered to let me hold him but I refused, I didn't want Twix to smell me and think I'm horrible! From now on I'm going to try and only adopt hammies
haha sounds very noisey :P

Re: Just rescued a hamster!!
Hello oimysizex. I am catching up to posts since I was off for a while. I just saw this one. Tilly is beautiful and very, very lucky you saved her. It was criminal of her owners to have her living like that. Such a lovely little hammy. I just don't understand people sometimes. Her bin cage is wonderful. It has everything she needs. Remember, she's had nothing for so long that this can be overwhelming for her. She can get more things later on. I honestly think it is more than great! Another wonderful rescue by a Hamster Central member!

shes okay now, really settled in now, shes not tame yet as ive been giving her alot of time to adjust and just get used to me.
her teeth are still long and dont fancy getting a pinch off her right now. ive been giving her lots of wooden chews and buiscuits and they have gotten better!
shes such a cutie and has come on so well, though she stinks my room out and makes my boys go mental hhah
