Ants..
Hey everyone!
I hope everyone has been very well!
Its been awhile since I have posted on here.
I have been going through hell right now, but enough about me
Anyways... So yea...
My mom and I have been dealing with these ants like crazy because its summer and we can't even find the source where they are coming from.
I have been cleaning out Furbottom's cage ever time I see ants gathering around. I clean all her things that are washable with warm water and a bit of soap just to make sure I get rid of whatever smell the ants are attracted to in her cage.
I also have been moving her cage in and out the room whenever I start to bug spray the room(I even air out the room after I have finished using the bug spray)
What are other ways that I can keep ants out of her cage?
I would really appreciate you guys taking the time to reply back.
Thank you!!!

Re: Ants..
Wal-Mart sells any bait traps. They have clear liquid bait and you open a small bit of it and they take the food back to their nest and die. It works very well! No toxicity smell like the spray, but make sure pets can't get to it. Just open it and lay it where you think they are coming in, or in a path you know they'll cross.

Re: Ants..
NiChan, I found that using Vaseline helps. Just apply it around the edge of the hamster cage, making sure to apply along the edge all the way around. The ants can't walk across the Vaseline and won't get into the cage.
Vaseline is harmless to hamsters and it works wonders to keep ants out.

Re: Ants..
Definitely keep Vaseline on the outside of the cage only, nowhere where the hamster could actually ingest any. Not sure where the idea that it's harmless came from(petroleum which is definitely not safe to ingest, plus it blocks nutrient absorption potentially for days once ingested), but it does seem quite old so that could explain things!

It’s well away from Ragna, didn’t want to take that chance. Thanks for the heads up☺️

Re: Ants..
I would put little ant stations about. They’re pet friendly too. There’s that good stuff in the stations called Nippon that ants love and take back to their nest to kill every ant in that nest.
Not sure where you from but Amazon UK do them or you may find them on another online site. My local Tesco’s do them too.
