Default Where did you get your hamster's name from?

Where did you get your hamsters name from? Well its kind of silly being that my husband and I are 22 year olds, but we recently got into the Pokemon trading card game, just as something for the two of us to do together at home.

So when I bought my Roborovskis I had to think of some names, so my husband suggested that I call one Pichu, which is Pikachu’s baby form. But I still needed to come up with a name for the other and Emma one of our moderator’s suggested I call the other Machu, so I would have Machu and Pichu

Machu Picchu is a city located high in the Andes Mountains in modern Peru. Its pretty neat, you can see a picture of it here http://www.hopeandjeremy.com/wedding...chu-picchu.jpg

Pretty cool and ancient place, beautiful too if ya ask me..

Where did you get the ideas for your hammie (s) name?

Merry and Pippin were chosen as hobbit names for hobbit-sized hamsters - they get referred to as the hobbits or the hobbit-hams.

My most recent Syrians - Bella because she was very pretty, and Mitzi was after a book I had when I was little about a little bear called Mitzi. I can't really remember other reasons for Ham names - one was called after Jayne Torville the ice dancer. One was Posy as it rhymed with the previous ham's name, Rosie!

Default Named for...

Nora was named by my Fiancee for Nora Jones the singer, and Grissom is named for my favourite tv show. I came up with Grissom when I was washing dishes at my second job, it just hit me out of the blue when I wasn't trying to think of a name.

Invader Zim is one of my fave programmes, so we had to call our wee hamster Gir. I think it suits him...

Gir - just found a t-shirt with that character on it for my 17 year old. :P

My 12 year old is a chef wanna be, and she is the one who started the hamster invasion, so she started the whole food related line - Coriander and Clover.

The above mentioned 17 year old is into mythology, so Tyr is named for the Norse God of Justice.

Default Names...

My hamster's names are Nevaeh and Punkin...

Nevaeh is Heaven backwards and it just sounds beautiful..and it fits because she's my little piece of heaven!

And Punkin is because he is a reddish-tan color and my boyfriend says Punkin instead of Pumpkin so I thought it was cute

:P

Well, before my boyfriend and I went to pick *his* syrian he had decided he wanted a boy and it would be called Harold!! But as you all know, you don't pick, you get picked by the hamster, and we were picked by a little girl so in the car I was suggesting female names beginning with H and he just liked Hermione. We lilke the Harry Potter books aswell which probably helped!

As for my Robos, Eenie, Meanie, Miney and Mo, well can you think of four names that go together??!!

Goodness! Mine are all with a story of sorts. We have Pinky & the Brain, which is obviously one of my fav cartoons. Then they had babies, so we have:

Basil Fawlty

Sybil Fawlty

Manuel

Polly

All from the John Cleese Fawlty Towers series.

"Don't mention the war!" (< that's for you babyboos! )

Then there's

Cool Hand Luke - that's because when he was young, he kept leaving the nest. I had to keep putting him back with a spoon!

Mad Zelda - poor little Z - she's just special and nutty! The name suits her well!

Then there's FIZZ BOMB because she has an explosive personality. She's the one in my avatar.

And then there's my syrian:

Kahlua - she's a black syrian and is the same color of the adult beverage of the same name.
