Is string safe?
I want to make a cardboard tube bridge so have bought some simple natural coloured string but is it safe to use in a cage?

Re: Is string safe?
Ooh I'm planning on making a bridge out of toilet rolls too after seeing Scrubbys video! Would also like to know if string safe, if anyone can advise?

Re: Is string safe?
Probably not a good idea to leave it in the cage in case they decide to have a munch as it can mess up their insides. Under supervision is fine though and ive used it for a couple of things before

Re: Is string safe?
I'm not sure about normal string, although I'd like to know! I know that sisal string is safe though

Re: Is string safe?
..... Livvy used to chew through string making it completely impossible to hang things in her cage. She never ate it, though, and it didn't cause her any problems. It was undyed.

Re: Is string safe?
What about jute twine? It's a natural fiber. I know wilko's do rolls of jute twine in their garden section.

Re: Is string safe?
I always used hemp twine for hanging things in my hams' cages.

Re: Is string safe?
I bought some sisal twine to make toys for my hamsters, but it smells really strongly of something sort of chemical, a bit like fuel oil. Is it supposed to smell like that, or does this mean it's treated with something and so unsuitable for animal use?
