Default hamster breeders

I've seen a few mentions of people wanting hamsters from breeders or some who have hamsters from breeders. I didn't even think people bred hamsters, which was pretty dumb of me really! Is there a list of hamster breeders in the UK or anything like that?

p.s. I like the new layout! Much clearer

Default Breeders

First place to check is the BHA Register of Breeders and post an advert under the Classified Section with your location and how far you would be willing to travel.

If you check out which hamster club is closest to you then contact them they will be able to tell you the contact details of other members in your area who breed hamsters, or you can arrange to go along to one of the shows to collect a hamster as breeders often travel hundeds of miles to attend. If you are unsure which NHC or BHA clubs cover your area please do not hesitate to let us know, and we will help you contact the relevant one/s.

Have you ever considered joining a hamster club at all. The Hamster Society or The Northern Hamster Club I believe would cover Tyne and Wear.

Nope I've never even thought of it, thanks for those links I've had a look around. I'm not sure if it would be worth it I'm pretty shy so I doubt I would go to the shows lol but its interesting anyway

Hey believe it or not so am I, and I thought all those things too but there are so many people it is easy to stay in the background have a wander at free will noone comes up and interrogates you or anything, there are usually things for sale too and always someone ready to answer questions. They love hamsters and want to share that feeling

Lots of members of the general public go who don't have the first clue sometimes when it comes to hamsters so don't feel intimidated, there wont be a hamster gentics popquiz to get in the door

Emma, pj, ems and Pophammy plus a few others here have been to shows so I am sure they will come along at some point and tell you their experiences.

You'd really enjoy a show Neesh. Everyone just loves hams and go's out of their way to talk to you, show you their hams and generally get you involved, The more interested you are the more they help you. We always need helpers at Northern Club shows and you'd be more than welcome. First step I'd say is join the Northern Club and you will then be a member of The National Hamster Club and you will get a magazine every month where you can read articles and all about hams and shows. It only costs £8.50 Next step try and get to a show. We could meet you and help you get involved. Probably nearest to you would be York. Bring your ham and enter it in the pet section. In the summer most shows are at Agricultural shows so you can have a great day out and see lots of fun events. Hope to see you soon but take your time and when you decide, go for it!
