Re: Pet shop hamsters
I got Panda from my local petsmart and according to the associates there, he was the friendliest hamster they had out of all of them at that time. Before I bought him I saw one associate take him out and hold him and show him to some little kids. I never asked to pet him before I bought him but apparently everyone there loved him. Recently I had gone in and saw the girl who put him on hold for me the night I got him, she asked how he's doing I told her great and that I couldn't have asked for a better hamster and she said, "he was the friendliest one out of the bunch, he was everyones favorite". I'm not sure if he got handled a lot by them because of this but he bonded with me the night I took him home. I was unaware they are suppose to be left alone for the first couple weeks. He settled in quickly and quite well and I was petting him and picking him up the first night. He wasn't scared of me at all! I honestly feel so lucky that my first hamster is so great in every way!

Re: Pet shop hamsters
If you are so tempted, consider getting another! I have so many, and I love them all so much. THere is nothing like walking into your hamstery, and having all the hamsters want you to love on them, and pet them. Its beautiful!
And yes Pandas mommy some petsmarts do have employees that like to play with them, but not all sadly. The petsmart over an hour from me's employees love them, and play with them constantly. So their hamsters are very sweet But the petsmart 4 minutes from me's employees know NOTHING and act like they will melt if they touch them. HMPH.

Re: Pet shop hamsters
That is true KWsHamstery, the P@H near me has staff that didn't know much or seem very confident handling the hamsters, but the one I went to near my mums yesterday had great staff that knew all the animals and played with them etc... I'll pop in next time I'm there and if Christopher is still there then he's mine!!

Re: Pet shop hamsters
I have noticed that petsmart employees are better than most of our other local stores, but it does end up depending on the employees... I bought Destro at a pet shop owner the owners did not like hamsters! Kind of strange, and those hamsters were certainly never handled, but Destro was the sweetest, friendliest, most sociable little guy out of all of our hamsters after he was tamed!

Re: Pet shop hamsters
fortunately the petsmart near me has very knowledgeable associates and all of them seem to really love the animals so much! i also notice that they take really good care of them. when i went in there friday night, all the cages had just got cleaned, all wheels had been cleaned, etc.

Re: Pet shop hamsters
That's good to know. I think I just feel sorry for all the ones that are waiting for adoption, I want to take them all home!
