Hamster play pen idea..
So I am in desperate need of a playpen that Sparkle can't escape from a she is a monkey for climbing things... I have been looking on the Internet and thinking lots about what would be suitable and I've had s thought but was wondering what people think.. I've thought about getting a kids ball pit, without the balls in and using that as a play pen what do you think?

As long as she doesn't chew it I can't see a reason not to.

Re: Hamster play pen idea..
I am not sure how deep they are and would still worry about escape as hamsters can jump off things in their playpen. I am also not sure they are much bigger than paddling pool and when I looked at them it seemed they would be too shallow.
I believe some members have made play pens from something called Correx.
I an thinking of using a puppy playpen that is totally enclosed, even over the top, as I have very determined Syrians!

Re: Hamster play pen idea..
I use this dog playpen for my Syrians, Patches and Ted E. Bear. It folds up to just about nothing and I actually use it for my Chihuahua, Yoda, if we stay at my sister's for the weekend. It wasn't that expensive either. Hope this helps.

What about those wire playpens you can get at P@H and online? They seem to be designed so they're not claimable. Just do a search online or on ebay and you'll see the ones I mean, I was looking at them when getting ideas for the box playpen I made.

I think the play pen is the Trixie play pen that i have and my Syrian is not able to climb out, I don't have my other photo to hand where he is stood fully upright next to the wires, but he can't reach to get out, I would only advise that you don't put a high climbable toy next to the bars where your hammy could climb up to reach the top of the bars.

DrKMcK: That`s such a great idea! I`m selling those at my work and I have no idea why I`ve never though about this
I will definitely recommend this to people when they ask for a play pen!

Re: Hamster play pen idea..
Ok thank you all for that, with the wire ones I think she would find a way to escape as she is a very determine to find an escape... She's very cheeky, thanks for that DrkMcK, I had looked at those too, maybe I'd be better off getting one of those for her

DrKMcK that is exactly what I mean by Puppy playpen! Glad to see a photo of one in practise though.
I am surprised at how small they fold up.

"A picture is worth a thousand words"...as they say
But...You HAVE to monitor your hams in this. It is canvas cloth and can be chewed. None of mine have tried to chew it, but you never know. Rodents have those teeth for a purpose...chewing! Although, to be honest, I would worry more about my dwarfies in this thing. I believe they would chew, and right away too. They have the metal playpen shown by Scampi16 and they can't get out of it. But the Syrians just laugh and climb it in a flash. I wish they'd make that same playpen but make it about 4 inches taller. My Dwarfs have 4 of those pens put together to make a big playpen in my living-room I'd love for the Syrians to have the same thing.
