Talking A True Hamster Central Story

In 2011, my husband and I decided to adopt our first hamster together. Her name was Petunia T. Ham. A feisty, energetic little Campbells.

After almost two years, Petunia started to show signs of aging, but she continued to fight like a champion through two respiratory infections.

She played with us literally up until her dying day, which was at the end of this past July. We found her in a peaceful eternal sleep one morning after slightly more than two years. We were both completely heartbroken.

We had her remains cremated, and she now has a beautiful box and memorial in our living room, surrounded by cards from friends and family.

After feeling like I could never adopt another hamster, I was strolling through a pet store and spotted this little Robo. It was love at first sight.

We brought him home and named him Pumpkin. He is our first Robo.

Then two weeks later, I was reading through the Hamster Central forum and came across this post about a new batch of baby Robos. After contacting Ginger's Grandma, we arranged an adoption! My husband and I immediately started working on a split tank for the two hams.

Yesterday, it was finally time for the adoption - we met up and I brought home little Rolo!

Today our house is full of love and hamsters! And it wouldn't have been possible without the help of Hamster Central. <3

Your robo's are absolutely beautiful I remember gingers robo babies veing borb

I don't mean to appear to be a meanie but although small robo's really do need much more space. They are such active little things as i'm sure your aware and love plently of space to run around.

Congratulations on your new robos, they are very sweet. Who can resist the whiskers on a roborovski!!!

Robos being as fast as they are need very careful handling (low down or moved inside a secure box or jar!) but their wheels are great too! Fast silent spinners will keep them very happy!

The tank you have would suit one robo alone, so if you can find another one, it would be nice for them both to have equal space. They will live in a small space, but If you can find another cheap tank in time, they would both gain from that. x

If they are both the same sex, and one younger than the other, I was wondering if you were thinking about trying to house them together as a pair once they have settled? I gather this sort of thing can be achievable where there is a younger robo being introduced?

Hamsters are so lovely, but addictive. I cannot imagine not having at least a couple around now yet only few years ago I had never thought them even worthy of being considered as a pet.

HC and the hammies themselves have convinced me of how wrong I was.

They have a HUGE playpen and they absolutely love it! And despite being so fast, I'm shocked at how much they love being petted and snuggled. My Campbells was so feisty and could never sit still!

Right now they're both about eight weeks old (males)! I'm slowly introducing them to each other, they've gotten into a few spats. Basically the screen is a precautionary measure - better safe than sorry/injured.

So glad I will still be able to watch little Rolo grow. Oh and he is 6.5 weeks old.
