Default Are Robos truly hard for beginners?

I want to get either a winter white or a robo as my first hamster, but i've heard theyre not very fond of being handled and held, and I would prefer a more cuddly, friendly hamster. Is it unlikely this will happen with either of these breeds/any dwarf breed?

robos are hard to tame, and are more of a watching pet. winter whites and other dwarfds are a bit more friendly, but if you want a cuddly hamster I suggest a Syrian

they can, Chinese and winter whites can be friendly, depends on the hamster really. but as long as you put the effort in, you can tame them, its just robos that aren't realy cuddly ones

Winter whites are lovely. Of the dwarfs, they're the less likely to get on with their own kind, but they are great with people. I get to handle untame, baby WWs in the pet shop and even they love to be handled.

Just be wary about those advertised as WW as they may look pure bred but can still be hybrid and therefore *Russian"....and diabetes prone.

Unless you get from a breeder who can show clean lines do not assume that you have a WW.

And of those I have some love to just lie on my hand and be petted whilst others zoom around.

That is the same of my Syrians though to be honest, only they are bigger and somewhat easier to hold on to LOL
