Default Greedy Little Hamster Hoarder , hehe.

I cleaned out Gerald’s cage the other day. I always thought that Gerald was a good eater, it seemed like he was eating allot more lately, he has a mixed diet of a basic hamster seed as well as lab blocks that I offer. It seems like every other day or so I need to fill up the food dish again, everything is gone, the lab blocks and the seed mix (besides the green alfalfa pellets that all hamsters leave behind )

I lifted up the igloo he sleeps in to give him a chance to come awake from him long nap and couldn’t help but laugh when I saw this huge fluffy hamster peering up at me with sleepy eyes literally sleeping on a mound of food! Forget nesting material there was non, he was literally sleeping in a nest made of seed and lab blocks which he had gathered from who knows how long!

It reminded me of the dragon who steals and hoards all the gold it can find then sleeps on a mound of it while to protect its treasure lol, so cute, thought id share

Ahhh! How sweet. Our Runty, when you put him back at night after his run, goes straight into his store and checks it to make sure everything is still there! We give little mini bonio dog biscuits and he carries one around like a weight lifter, whilst rearranging all his bits of food! Yes none of ours ever touch the dark green pellets! Why do they put them in? Must be the brussel sprouts of the ham world that your mum always says are good for you but taste awful!

I don't know, they just dont eat them! neither does my Roborovski Hamster or my gerbils! In all the rodents I've ever owned, none of them ever ate the green pellets

Gerald looks so funny when he walks around with a lab block that's too big for him to cram into his cheek pouches, I wounder how he sees where he's going. I'm glad he at least eats those, it has everything he needs in them

Awww, that's so cute. Makes you wonder whether he ate his nesting material :lol My 3 Syrians all do that everytime their food bowl is filled - they empty it within an hour and store it!

Default Green pellets

The main constituent of green pellets is usually alfalfa (grass). Alfalfa helps the digestive process by supplying roughage and also contains a good source of calcium for your pet to insure healthy bones and bone growth.
