Thanks. Have e-mailed her but she is sold. Apparently she put her on there just after Christmas!

What about these Winter Whites in Erith? Or do you definitely want a Syrian?

Well, its the wrong side of London for you but there's very nice lady called Annamarie in Bedfordshire (up the A1 past Stevenage - its probably a 1.5-2 hour drive from Dartford) who has some robos for sale. She actually runs a rabbit rescue - I got three young robos from her a while ago (as well as a Rescue Chinese!) and she's now selling her next litter.

Have you had hamsters before? I know you like robos but are you aware that they're not really cuddling pets? I suspect Emma at Furry Friends may be a bit reluctant to let you have her robos as I know she's usually looking for someone with robo (or at least dwarf) experience.

It might be an idea to start with a Syrian and then get some robos later in the year once you've got used to the Syrian?

I hope this doesn't sound patronising - I'm just trying to help you so you end up a happy hamster owner like the rest of us.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, Anne Marie is too far from me. Yes, I have had dwarf hamsters before. I have never had a syrian and I have always been wary of them becuase my friend's syrians aren't very friendly and PAH has told us this aswell.

I have 3 syrians who are extremely friendly and a lot of them are. Thats like saying all pitbulls are aggressive lol. IT tajes patience to tame a hamster.

Don't discount syrians Jamie. They make the loveliest of pets and like all hamsters tame very easily with kindness and patience. Your friends one may have had a bad start or something. P&H are talking rubbish. The problem with their hammies is that sadly they have never been handled or really even seen a person when they are sent to the stores. They again will tame readily. Robos are very speedy and be sure your cage is suitable as they can get through quite small bars. Do you have any pet shops near you other than P&H. You could ask there where they get their hammies from as some do get them from breeders so that may be your only option if you can't track one down near you. Good luck anyway.

Hi Jamie I got a wonderful hammy from p@H last week Black dom spot, yes she took some taming but I tamed her in 4/5 days now she climbs up my wrists and wants to be with me all the time.

I think whether hammies are tame or not depends on the individual person we give ours time and plenty of daily handling and talk to them also treats are a way to a hammies heart (or stomach lol). When we breed hammies ours are handled daily spoken to, people who have had our hammies always say how lovely and friendly they are. A lady I used to work with her daughter has one of our hammies we bred a couple of years ago and now wants another one.

Yes, must asmit, my friends pair of syrains did come from PAH!

If I could find a breeder of syrians where they have been handles regularaly, I would love one! Unfortunately there is only PAH and one Pet Shop round here which does not sell hamsters. So I am either looking for a syrian or a robo.

There are a lot of classifieds online so have a look on them. Alternatively, a lot of newspapers or in the bargin pages.
