How long can hamsters go without water?

um why would you leave for a 7 days? do you mean you have no choice but to go away? 'cause the worst i can think of happening, is dirty water. i know not many people would like to drink a week old water, so for me that applies to hamsters too. other than that i'd be constantly fretting about escapes or blocked up bottles i guess.
if you're away for that long can't you call someone in to check on them? we have various neighbours who we can trust, we look after their animals sometimes and they look after ours x

No. I was saying that hypothetically XD If SOMETHING happened (which couldnt possibly happen because im sure im going back today) that made me not be able to go back for 7 days....well....that would *stink im sure.

I'm pretty sure if that happened and she was left for 7 days I doubt shed survive tbh but that's not going to happen since you said youl be home in a few hours so hopefully she's just be a thirsty wee thing xxx

I'm so glad she's ok. I'm paranoid about water bottles not working. I think the worst I did was put their seed sticks onto the outside of their cages They kicked up a right racket.

Hi, I'm not casting any judgement because I'm positive you feel awful and it was an over sight and not an intentional act and im pretty sure that you wont do it again!
Can I recommend in future perhaps you should have two bottles to make sure this doesn't happen again. Hammies are very small and dehydration can set in quickly so give her water and as the others have said give her some cucumber to help hydrate her.

Also I think she might of had some water in her bowl before I left. (still that wouldnt be much)

I was just reading through this thread and was hoping shes okay, and glad to know shes fine . Sometimes I also forgot to put the bottle back in after cleaning the cage, im such a forgetful person, and this warns me to always double check everything! I'm just glad shes okay, also a lesson learnt for me
