Don''t forget you can't post pictures of pups until their eyes are open, which is around 14 days old

Varies by breeder, most separate them into same sex groups when they are between 21 and 28 days old because the males then get close to the time when they can breed.

I'm not sure about all breeders but the guy I got my hams from handled the moms after the 2nd day the pups were born. He didn't touch the babies but the moms were fine with him petting them and handling them. he picked up the moms to show us her coloring and that she was very tame and tolerant.

But if it was me, I would leave her alone for awhile since she's a new mom.

They should be seperated into single sex groups at 4 weeks old And put on their own around 8 weeks, though some get on for longer and some don't get on as long so best to observe and make your own judgement on this.

I personally would leave the mom so that she is giving them her full attention. Once their eyes open she can have short breaks away from them.

Best of luck xx

I absolutely agree with Katiepillow. Mummy hamster will know best what to do. If pups do "vanish" then it will be for the best. Trying to intervene would only make it worse.

I personally would just let mummy ham rest and not cuddle her for a while. You might find that in a few days she comes to the bars to great you and then I guess interaction is ok, because it is her choice. I wouldn't take her before she gives you the sign that she is ready.

What a tricky situation! But a lovely one too. I hope you, mummy and babies are doing ok? I would be very interested to see some photos in a few weeks when they open their eyes! Good luck and much love from me and the girls! xx

Heres an update on the babies: Last time we counted there were 9-10. So there is 0-1 less! Im sad that 1 might be gone but shes a new mom and I heard there are usually less then half after a week! They all have fur and are now so adorable! There are black ones, yellow ones, brown ones and all in between! There about to open there eyes.

Also, can I hold them once they open there eyes? Can I hold them now? Im wondering when I can. They are about 13 days old.
