went to pets at home yesterday to get a large savic wheel for zuke, i got a hamster potty too but he doesnt seem to be using it. Ive littertrained ferrets with sucess but not hamsters, im sure he would be happier and cleaner as he poo's in his bed he asnt used it i dont think..

Hi, I got one of those with the Hamster Heaven I bought for Sammy. I dont know, Sammy is a SUPER clean hamster and all I did was put sand in it and he seemed to know to wee in it and did it straight away without me coaxing him.
He doesnt do his poos in it though. He prefers to do them in his bedroom but they are hard so it doesn't matter!
Personally, I think it depends on the hamster. But have you tried cleaning everything really well so there are no traces of urine and then putting a little soiled bedding in his potty? Some say that works!

Ours have these potties and most use them to wee in but you get the odd one who prefer a corner instead. They like the chinchilla sand in the potties not the litter they sell for hammies. I do not know any hammies who poo in one place. Mostly they do it in bed and chuck it out to the side. Do not worry about the dry poos as they are quite harmless. Like sammys mum said, put some wet bedding in the potty and place it in his normal wee spot and he may learn to use it. If not he will still enjoy a dig and a bathe in it.
