Could any of you recommend a good hamster playpen for Boo?
Hey everyone! I just want to say thanks for your advice before about taming my little Boo - I have managed to get to handling and get some cuddles with her! She loves the interaction... and nomming on my clothes given half the chance, which I'm sure isn't healthy for her..
I've been looking for hamster playpens so I can let Boo out of her cage and run around on the floor a little for playtime. I was wondering whether you guys have any bright ideas or a recommendation for a model/brand, something that has worked well for you? Any other toys and things I can buy for playtime? Boo is a Syrian, extremely energetic and quite the little gymnast. She also seems completely crazy and can run rings around me.
We have cats in the house so I would prefer it if it was harder for Boo to escape (and easier for me to catch her in the act). The cats are not ever allowed in Boo's room at all, of course, but I'm just treading carefully.
(P.S Sorry that my participation thus far has just been asking questions.. I really want to be part of the community here, but first I want to make sure I'm being a good hamster parent! After I know I'm doing all the right things, I'll be more involved here! Including picture-time!)

If you have space to store we use these kids play / sand boxes from Argos
I would not recommend the mesh barred fold up ones as they are very easy to get out of. You can also use a large storage box or some people have made them using correx board or you could use cardboard and bulldog clips. They are easy to store

That is brilliant! Thank you! I've found them on Argos, and it seems they come in two parts.. so that will be handy for me to use one as my very own sandpi-- Errr, I mean spare.. *ahem* Do you find that the sides are high enough?
I like the look of the coroplast one too!

They are high enough but you still need to supervise them in there because they can jump off a toy if it is near the edge. Because they curve and are smooth the hams slide back down when they try and climb out. They still like to be out and about really though! The other side of the room is always more interesting if you are a hamster!

Oh wow!
Some great ideas, thanks =)
Can they not get out of this one? Is it just high enough? Would be great if it was!
