Keto-Diastix strips are sold in all pharmacies for ~$15 per 50 paper "sticks". There is also plain Diastix, but you need specifically "Keto-Diastix" to test for ketones and glucose levels.
Thanks-isn't it hard to get a hamster to pee on one though? Not being sarcastic-how is it done?

No, you don't let the hamster pee on the stick, LOL! You put the hamster into a bin/transport box or other area with a clean surface, wait until the hamster makes a puddle and then drag the stick through the puddle.

It's still often hard to do because many hamsters don't want to pee onto clean surfaces. Your best bet is to wake them up slightly before their normal time. Because, like humans, they usually feel a need to go to the toilet just after waking up.

It's still a little difficult though :\ Holly won't be on anything but ME it seems It took about 20 minutes to et her to pee, when usually it only take about 5 minutes -.-
