Saying goodbye to baby hamsters :(
I've fallen in love with each and every one of Nala's babies. I actually played with the idea of keeping them all briefly. But realistically I can't afford eight hamsters and two chinchillas. Even four hamsters is pushing it. I debated rehoming the father with one of his sons, but realized I couldn't do that either. It wouldnt be fair to Chinny and he was one of my first dwarf hamsters I'm to attached. How do you say goodbye to the little ones? They are all so sweet and lovable. Its going to be hard to hand them over to a new home when the time comes. They were an accidental litter, but I'm happy I had the chance to watch them grow.

Re: Saying goodbye to baby hamsters :(
This is something I'm going to experience soon!
I do love all the babies and I'll be more than happy to keep any that I don't find perfect homes for
I guess I'm not finding it as hard as I'm so pleased with the first babies home. And I should be getting updates, which will put my mind at ease.
Though I expect I'll find it harder with any other babies x

Re: Saying goodbye to baby hamsters :(
I'm half hoping I can't adopt them out, then I have to keep them I called my local humane society to see if they could advertise for me with out be turning them over. They said they couldn't but that I could always bring them in, as they always adopt hamsters out. For me that isn't an option though.

Oooooooh believe me I know exactly how you feel, I've been so attached to each mini pompom it's been horrible letting them go
I do remind myself though that if I hadn't, even with Jam and The Cloud being at the bridge now, I'd currently have 30 hamsters

Re: Saying goodbye to baby hamsters :(
I think there are a few hamster rescues in our area that might be able to help you out. I don't think they would take them in, because many of them take in lots of hamsters from kill shelters and don't have room, but they might have some good advise/leads. I really like Small Angels Rescue You might also try craigslist, and just be sure to screen all potential owners really well?
Edit: Oops! I see you already have them on craigslist. Looks like a great posting to me, gosh they're darling.

Re: Saying goodbye to baby hamsters :(
I advertise on multiple websites (Hoobly, Craigslist, EbayClassifieds) and get many inquiries. Also, let people know you are looking for homes, even the people who are unlikely to take one. You would be surprised how fast word spreads. With so many people interested, you can weed through them and find the good ones
This is what I do with all my babies and most go to people I know personally, and the others go to people who are happy to keep me updated. Offer to petsit for the life of the pet if they go on vacation, etc. It makes things easier

Re: Saying goodbye to baby hamsters :(
Oh, it was really hard to let 2 of my litter go. But I had found a very nice person who I helped to build a great diy cage for them so I knew they would go to a fantastic place, that helped a lot. I still did cry when she walked out the door with them
