Default Spare toy boxes

I've just begun to combine all my spare toy boxes, and I'd kind of not realised quite how much I have..
I've got 5 spare wheels (2x6.5" ss, 2x15cm wonderland and one 20cm wonderland)
5 spare stick bridges
wooden tunnels
about 7 houses..
ceramic corner toilets,

and that's not including the 7 pieces of cork in I've got spare which I use for the playpen.
O.O

How much do you guys keep, 'just in case'?

You don't really want to know. Iv got a spare wheel, 3 spare water bottles, two wooden houses, small balls with rattles, 3 tunnels, puzzle playground 60 pieces, 2 grass houses, an igloo, a huge branch from the reptile section, various cardboard tubes and boxes, a hanging ladder, a nesting cup (like a tiny dog bed) a tiny furry sock ( I call it Squeak's sleeping bag), grass mats, and goodness knows what else. Since I circulate toys all of them will get used eventually. Iv filled the now spare iMac cage and expansion but it's not neat with this stuff.

My problem with spare toys, and 2 spare cages, is that you have an almost £0 start up cost from a new hamster, sort of.. 'oh, but I've got enough stuff for everyone'
I had 5 hamsters and only want to keep one at a time in future.. this is going to require a LOT of self control

But I also didn't realise how much I accumulated, and you did well filling an ottoman! And with only one hamster.. your next one will be very spoilt

seems we all spoil our hammies,

Maybe try to sell some things Katie, it would probably help with the self control (of which i have none, and hubby has it for me ) and would give you some start up costs.

See I think that I should try to sell things, but then I think 'but if I need to buy them again, then I won't be able to get them for the price I've sold them for'

I keep my restraint by reminding myself that I almost had to spend christmas alone this year because nobody could watch the hamsters, and their cages are too large to fit in a car together. Once I've got less I'll have more freedom (woo for selfish reasoning )

hehe good reasoning, what about selling things you have more than one spare of?

so keep one wheel + 1 spare wheel,
one house + 1 spare house

etc. etc.?

that way you shouldn't need to re-buy and you downsize

Er... Do I really have to try and remember? Really?

Would it be ok if I bumped this on say, Wednesday with my confirmed answer?
By then I'll have a much better idea of what is/isn't in use in final cage setups (I hope to have all done or at least fully planned by the end of Wed) and will be back at home with access to the spare boxes for counting purposes.

From memory, but I plan to use a fair bit of this to furnish the final cage setups (they'll be bigger and need more fortunately lol)

We have an entire box of spare rotastak tubes, so er... a lot of them
3 spare rotastak wheels because er... we don't get rid of stuff lol
1 broken savic rolly (medium) after I snapped the spindle and didn't bother throwing it out
2 working savic rolly wheels (medium and small)
2 ferplast duna wheels
7 logs with holes in
6 of the wooden logs you can bend into curves and such
1 big P@H playground toy
1 wooden swing
8 spare bottles (1 normal spare, 2 that came with the dunas, 1 free from ECF, 1 that came with the ferplast mary, 3 that came with second hand cages)
2 spare P@H cubes
1 hamster potty
5 houses
2 sputniks
3 spare balls (one of each size)
A ton of cardboard boxes and pasta sauce jars
Some egg boxes and loo rolls
5 ladders (plus a few I made)
11 spare food bowls (we had 6 for the russians but took them out, got a bunch of others free with stuff)
1 spare rabbit food bowl (aka sand bath that Scamp doesn't want)
1 rat hammock (bought for Scamps cage but not in there yet)

Er... That may or may not be it lol
I really haven't dug through the spare boxes recently and haven't looked at what we got with the second hand cage recently enough to remember all of it (thats where a wheel, ball and house came from, plus 2 bottles).

Er... Yeah we have too much lol
In my defence a surprising bit came with second hand cages, and a lot of it'll be in the new cage setups since they get an added Hamster Heaven for Scamp, and a bin each for the robos, plus hopefully a bigger flat cage for the robos (each) too. We can use loads of toys up yet
We also put most of it in cage setups but the russians had to get a downgrade to reduce squabbles and now the robos are more confident we don't pack their toys so tightly. And the wheels all have good reasons for not using them (1 broken, 2 second hand when we already had wheels, the others rubbish...), so I can justify most of it... Sort of...

Oh we also have a spare cage but I hate it and its only there incase the russians fight.
And we do make sure all hams can have either their cage in the car or a travel cage lol
The robo dunas will stay as part of their setups so they can travel in them, the russians smaller cage fits in the car, and Scamp goes down to her bin and kidney unit for travelling. Then we can get it all in the car and its all enough for them technically anyway
We normally have more toys in for Scamp, but yeah, travelling means I've taken some of her cage off her at the moment and that takes a bunch of toys out.

And most of it goes in playpens! Thats important too since it means it all gets used

I had 3 savic rollys, I think I threw one, gave another away with a spare cage and the other is a digging box for playtime ^.^ I also threw away all the duna wheels!

And MH, It's a good idea, I think I am going to do that.. just need to give myself time to part myself from the things
I managed to fit everything in one box at least! But have a carrier bag full of cardboard egg boxes.. I always seem to accumulate those
