She Is A Girl!!

Lastnight, I went to bed and started reading the hamsterlopedia and this morning when i picked Bubbles up I noticed that she might be a girl im 98% sure! But when i take sonny and bella to the vet il take Bubbles with me and il ask the vet to check, It pretty much looks like she is a girl! and i know taking 2 hamsters and a dog to the vet i may aswell take a zoo with me

I cant figure if its a good or bad thing, he was from my local pet shop and he was in the syrian section and she checked him and said she was a boy! and I feel bad now as ive been treating him like a boy

what should I do?? btw feel free to move this thread as I might of put it in the wrong section

I found out Gizmo was a girl after about 10 months of having her

So i just said her full name was Gizmona :P

i dont mind if shes a girl just that ive bought him/her boy things etc

His fur seems far too long, to me, to be a girl tbh. XD With longhaired Syrians it's easy to sex them. Especially as adults.

Im hoping hes still a boy but i dont mind but i would prefer it if he stayed the way he is

and there are more symptoms, his cage has always been clean and females are more active than males, he/she in the cage is lazy but when i have her/him out he/she is hyper and panda i was thinking about his fur too, like i said im hoping hes a boy but either way! im grateful

Never trust the pet shop lol

I didn't bother to ask with Scamp, we got her about 10 minutes before the shop was closing so I didn't want to frustrate the staff. I also figured I'd owned syrians before, so I was confident I could sex one myself. Thought she had the shape of a girl, and scruffing (a very wriggly hamster) proved she was indeed a girl.

I was less confident about dwarves because I know they can be difficult, so I trusted the pet shop about the two robos and the four russians.
They got 5/6 wrong lol

We thought Whizz was male for ages before I checked (she was scared of people so I didn't want to upset her for ages), and found Skip was actually male at the same time. The annoying part - I'd been calling Whizz she for ages at first lol, and had had to convince myself to call her "he" and then I checked and she went back to "she" lol

I also thought the russians had the female shape... Eventually checked it and yes, they're all girls. The pet shop claimed they were boys though, hence the name Timmy (which we've just about decided works for a girl lol)

So yeah, they got 5/6 of ours wrong having supposedly checked, whereas I was getting the right pronoun based entirely on shape, and ended up confusing myself no end by insisting on trusting the pet shop for a while rather than checking just to be sure before forcing myself to switch pronouns.

Moral of the story - Don't trust the pet shop, especially not when you're disagreeing with them without having checked the hamsters "parts" lol

I dont really trust any pet shops for much info anyway as I have this forum and 2 they are mostly always wrong

And a long skirt...lol. I'm keeping up with this skirt argument because Bubbles has a skirt.

Also, Giz, LHs can be a bit fiddly to get to ze fun bags.
