Re: How long do they live?
The one of Dexter did not meant to say: "Died: 24 July 2012. (Day I bought him.)" As that '(Day I bought him.)' was meant to say only on the line underneath that.
~
Unfortunately another one to the list...

Russian White Dwarf
Died: 25-10-2015
Age: 3 Years and 6 months (Since the day I bought him.)

~

Re: How long do they live?
Your not going to believe me when I tell you this but I had a male golden Syrian about 10 years ago maybe a bit more now and he was the best wee hammy I ever had (he was called hammy too) and he lived for approx 5-6 years I kid you not. The week that I had to get him put to sleep we were heading on hols and I noticed he had slowed down a lot and he had also lost weight too plus to my horror I found that his fur had fallen off his underside and he had a massive wound I was devastated and bathed it but knew that his time had finally come. He was the lovies to friendliest wee chap and is the reason I love hams. I haven't had another ham since until now be uses there was none like him and I couldn't get over it. Anyway I knew I had to take him to the vet and to this day I still remember his wee face the last time I saw him I was so distraught I couldn't get out of the car and mum and my younger sis had to take him in. So yeah that's my wee story. He'll forever live in my heart my wee hammy xxx

Forrest, Male Syrian
Acquired on 24.4.2014 from Pets at Home Peterborough UK,
I estimate he was approx. 8 weeks old when we got him,
He is still going though sleeps a heck of a lot now and over the last couple of months has taken to drinking a lot more water than before. He has normal Hamster food and fresh fruit and veg every day, he seems happy enough.
He does get bald spots by the scent glands on his flanks but the fur grows back
