Is it true that the larger the hamster, the longer they live? (As a general rule?) I have heard that the larger Syrians have longer lives on average, would you say this is true?

I wouldn't say this was true at all, life span all depends on a lot of other factors.
I've known chinese to live for a long time and robos as well x

Harry - Male - Syrian - 3 months - Wet tail ( had it from the pet-shop and though was under treatment from the vet, he didn't get better)
Squeak - Albino Syrian - female - no litter - 3 years 3 months - Not sure, think it was down to old age. Simply became less active and for a few days just slept in her nest till she passed in her sleep.
Bubbles - LH Syrian - male - 3 years 7 months - Tumour behind his right eye. Could not be operated on and would have been unlikely to treatable through medication. Chose to put him at rest.
Smokey - Black Bear Syrian - female - no litters - 2 years 1 month -stroke
Saffy - Sable Syrian - female - no litters - 2 years 3 months - Ovarian cyst, the vet drained the cyst but Saffy did not recover and died shortly after.

Honey - 16 months - infection (we didn't get an exact diagnosis, vet seemed to think it was tummy related, suspect pyometra)
