The scent of other hamsters?

Sounds a bit like Treo
He doesn't like to run around if I put him out for floortime or in a playpen in my room. He runs straight back to me or follows me around. But he would run around the bathroom or bed. Which has some but not a lot of the other hamsters smell, whereas my floor will have the scents of the others all over it.

Hes not an exercise fan to start with, but I have a feeling he knows how vunerable he is, so prefers to stick by me when he thinks threats are nearby.
The other hamsters never hesitate to explore, but they are all younger and fitter than him.
