Who's got chatty hams!!

I was told that Isabel used to be a screamer and a screecher back in her pet shop days and first days in a shelter, but when I got her she'd calmed down considerably, so I never quite heard anything alarming or menacing from her.

BUT! She's one chatty ham! She chirps a lot, sometimes lightly squeaks, and sometimes she'll be chattering and squeaking in her nest. Just today I had to go and check on her as it sounded like she was complaining: wheezing and squeaking under bedding for a few minutes straight. I dig her out and she's just looking at me like "what do you want, woman?! let me be!" Anyway, it's just her way, she's a very chatty ham! Must be those winter white chatty genes in her. Lucy chirps sometimes, but not very often, but Izzie talks a lot!!!

Viola's the chirpiest of my robos. Dora and Leela just do the excited whistling sound, and that's all I've ever heard from them.

Max chirp-squeaks when he drinks water from a bowl He also squeaks when Hamilton sits on him. They don't fight at all, Max just gets complainy when Hamilton climbs over him in their nest and sits on him for too long. Sometimes I wonder if Hamilton just doesn't realize he needs to move off as I go to check on them and he's just sitting there on pancaked upside-down squeaking Max all deep in thought. "MOVE HAMILTON, can't you see your brother doesn't like it?!!!" He's kinda odd, yeah...

The only noisey ones Ive had were K&J when they were babies and Pippy on a bad day will sit in the middle of her cage and scream at nothing much

Rory is the most chatty hamster I've ever had but Messy is a 'grumbler' if you go into his cage while he's 'sleeping'. He will also go mad and loudly 'threaten' Rory if he catches a whiff of him.

lol our syrians and robos are always silent.
The russians are usually relatively quiet but we know their noises well, there're four or five different squeaks/sounds we know by now
One of which is indeed the "Oi! Scruff stop sitting on me!" squeak which the other three occasionally need to make. It has surprising comic value when you check on them to see Scruff sitting there with a bunch of legs flailing under her and very little else of her latest "chair" visible lol
We do usually prod Scruff into letting the other up at that point though

Haha, well, I can try, but I have pretty bad lighting in my bedroom, as the sun faces away most of the day, and open sky is blocked by a tall building in front of my windows, so photos come out fine with a flash, but videos are a bit tricky. If I see them in a good spot doing this, I'll try making a video, but not sure how soon the right timing will happen.

You're right though, I feel utter glee looking at my hamsters about... 50 times a day

Oscar is my only silent ham. I've never heard a sound from him...Munchkin didn't much much noise either.

Snickers would chirp away all the time. Cooper makes tiny chirps when I get him out for cuddles and playtime.

Bailey screams when I used to handle him, so now I just stroke him as he's okay with that.

Then there's Pipsqueak, who earned his name for a reason! When I got him a few weeks ago he would scream soooo loudly when I went near him. Now he'll come near me without squealing but he runs around his cage all the time making odd noises. He's a very 'different' hamster though.

I've got Izu. He's like having a damn bird in the house you can hear his chirps from downstairs. -.- And considering that's through two shut doors it's impressive. That's when he's trying to talk to me. He's got a really large variety of sounds and now I'm fluent in 'Izuna'
