i think hatty is dying
For the past 2 nights hatty has just been lying in her hut barely moving and she doesn't come out apart from to use the potty. she seems really unstable on her feet. she doesn't open her eyes and doesn't want to be stroked.
i thought that maybe her being so overweight was disguising pyometria and i keep checking for botty and nest for blood, but there isn't any.
i think maybe she's just really old and that's all it is. it seems so unfair, being stuck in that rescue - i had to wait a month to pick her up - and then she finally gets a loving home where she can be happy and is just ill. life is so cruel sometimes

I'm really sorry to hear that, Bunsey. I'm sure Hattie knows what a wonderful home she has with you and, even if for a short time only, I'm sure she's grateful she's been given the chance to be happy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her.

Sorry to hear that Bunsey
I am sure she is getting the best care with you and at least she is with someone who loves her and is looking out for her.
I will be keeping my fingers crossed for little Hatty

Oh no Bunsey I am so sorry. She may be near her time now but she is surrounded by love so will feel safe. Sometimes there is no discharge with a closed pyometria. We know how you feel as our lovely Red is not well either. She sounds exactly the same really, not wanting to get up and looking very tired though she did eat a little pasta today. I am going to take her to the vet tommorrow in case it is a chest infection as she does sound a little clicky when she breathes. We are thinking of you.

Hatty will be in my prayers Bunsey. Keep her warm. Can she still get to her water? My Buffy, (RIP), got too weak so make sure you syringe a little water down her if she's struggling- or a piece of watery food like cucumber.

she just came out to get a few drops of water, but looked too weak to stay out and just wanted to go back to her hut. i stopped her and picked her up. she squeeled a bit, but i got a good look. she looks like she's lost a bit of weight and has some free skin down her sides. her eyes are crusted shut, but it doesn't look just like sleepy crusts. her feet are all really swollen up and she is having trouble walking. i think i might have to have her pts. she seems to be suffering. i don't have much faith in vets curing hamsters to be honest

May her path be gentle and speedy. I think you know in your heart when there is going to be no cure and you can give them peace and an end to pain.
It sounds as if she may have kidney or heart failure hence the swollen feet Bunsey. You are right in that there is no cure for these. I always hope they will pass without having the disturbance of a vets visit but if there is suffering which you can see then they need to be helped to go.
Our Red also has the sticky eyes and I think they may meet soon on the path.

Oh Bunsey, I am so so sorry. The period waiting for you to pick up Harriet seemed so long to me and she wasn't even coming to me! I do hope she recovers, but if not, I know that she will leave you surrounded by love and comfort, and when she goes Hemma, Bunsey and all will be there with her to share their stories of life with you.
hopes are with you and Harriet x
And Souff with Red, aww no, how truly sad. hopes and prayers winging their way to your house too.

kidney problems would make sense, her pee has been smelling quite strong and there's a lot of it. I've asked a communicator to speak to her and ask her what's wrong and if she wants assistance to cross over. She's going to talk to her sometime today.
