Arrow Okay so a quick question..

I was wondering, I am thinking about breeding syrian hamsters (i have homes available for them and money for vet bills if needed and also lots of extra room for up to 16 hamsters) and i was wondering where can i get them registered because i cannot seem to find where to register them so they have a full pedigree and birth certificates...

You can't really have pedigrees unless you buy your breeding stock from a reputable breeder who keeps records. These hamsters will come with a pedigree.
Breeders who join a National Hamster Council affiliated club can register a prefix after they have been a member and showing hamsters for a year. During this time you can learn so much about genetics and know what to breed and also the pitfalls.
There is no money to made in breeding hamsters. All members subscribe to a code of conduct and we do not breed for any purpose but to further lines and improve the quality and health of the hamsters and for show purposes but our primary aim is healthy animals with excellent temperaments.
Breeding from pet shop stock is not recommended as you just do not know the background and incorrect breeding may result in unhealthy or disabled hamsters.
If you seriously want to breed I would try and attend some shows and talk, talk talk to breeders to find out all you can. They are more than happy to help a serious newcomer out and will also help give you a good start in healthy, quality breeding stock.
You must be prepared and able to keep any hamsters you cannot either home or have something wrong which means they are not suitable for homing. This can mean a lot of hamsters if there is no demand and remember these all need time and money to make them have the best lives they can. Some hamsters are difficult to home such as whites and sometimes long haired animals and you may end up with these all needing a good sized cage each.

you should become a member of the southern hamster club, as a reconised member and breeder then your hamsters would be acknowledged under your hamstery name.
i must first say breeding isnt a thing to do unless you know everything and more, I will be doing my first litter in janurary, i have been researching for months.
do you have full pedigrees for both parents, do you know what they would produce, are either of them patterned, are you prepared for still births, for rejection, for eyeless whites, for the loss of the mother if things go wrong?
you need to be prepared for these things, and know how to breed, when to breed, what age.

i would say if you are definate on this, you have done all the reaserch, good luck to you itl be great to have another london breeder!
just dont rush in to it, like my friend at work, luckily no mating happened in her case but she was going to breed a banded to a dom spot, a definate for eyeless whites, and they where pet shop purchased hamsters, so nothing of their history was known.
and welcome to the forum! we would love to see your hamsters and how the pups grow if you do breed (tho not before eyes are open)
