I have a Hybrid ,Tessa
I would say don't get a Hybrid but I feel in love with Tessa as soon as I saw her
Just because there Hybrids dosen't mean they can't be amazing pets

They come in a chestnut brown with a darker dorsal stripe along the back or dominant spot with the mottled grey type coat. They also come in black eyed white but this is rare they tend to be found with breeders who are looking to further this colour but they do occasionally pop up in pet shops. I would talk with the PAH staff they have been known to mislabel the different breeds.

What was your previous ham and where did you obtain him?

I know you can do things that will give you a better chance at buying a health ham and I understand why you want to do this but sometimes these things cannot be avoided.
Speaking generally a breeder ham is going to have a better outlook than a pet store ham or a rescue ham as the breeder is breeding for health and their passion and not profit. A pure is going to have a better chance than a hybrid. Then again a lot of it is down to chance and the care given (not to say people give bad care!!) But sometimes you can never tell Cat was a pet shop ham and his next door neighbor was a pet shop gerbil and both lived to the ripe old age of 5. Eddard came from a show and was brought by a good friend for me and had a seizure and died at the age of 11 months

My Albus is a hybrid and although they are more prone to diabetes etc, this will never stop me. I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him and I would rather have some time with him than to not have had him at all. Unless you're into showing, having a hybrid doesn't particularly matter. If you love them as a hamster, they are a hamster. No more, no less. Regardless of breed..

I will always always always reccommend that you go to a NHC breeder for pure campbells or winterwhites.
Hybrids are just as wonderful pets as others, my Treo is wonderful

However, the possible health problems just aren't worth it. Treo is disabled and lives his life struggling with mobility and skin problems because of it.
The breeding of hybrids should not be encouraged, however it would be nice to rescue a hyrbid already for a new home x
