Honestly, I have nagged my mum like mad but, he first had the hamster starter kit (argos) and we were gonna put another cage on top of that (like the imac fantasy only cheaper and homemade) but we couldnt find one to fit so we went to pets at home and my mum bought the peggy metro which looked big to me (at the time) and now my friends gerbil died and my friend give me a rotastak super pod (way to small anyway) unless I persuasive my mum to sell the starter pack and the rotastak and use the money from that to buy another cage! so i'll try the sit down and talk thingy when I have time but at the mo im hopin' that he will chew through the bars and get a new cage that way!!!

He won't chew through the bars, nor should he be encouraged to. It could cause him injury plus he could escape and anything could happen to him. That's really not responsible.

Please give more details in your posts Jack. Many people would find these one line chit chat posts very hard to understand. Also please do not reply to every person who posts on your threads. In answer to your question I would not personally have a hammock in a hamster cage because I have seen instances where hamsters have chewed the fabric and thread and made themselves ill. I have also seen a hamster get it's foot caught in the chain holding the hammock and it lost the leg. These are rare occurances but not worth the risk to me.
I prefer simple and cheap toys. Our hams love to scramble through loo roll tubes and boxes with windows and doors cut in them are fun too. Get a hard nut and crack the shell slightly and a hammy will spend ages chewing to get the nut out.
As long as your wheel is big enough your hamster will get plenty excercise. Ensure it is at least 8in diameter for a smaller syrian. Wheels are a hamsters favourite toy and an essential one for fitness.

As for the hammock I would think about material carefully in picking a hammock so you do not get a material that can fray and catch limbs and cause the same issues as fluffy bedding. Also I am not sure how well a hammock would fit into a peggy metro most of the hammocks I own are bigger than that cage anyway (I used to have an elderly ill syrian in this cage on vet advice). Also I am not sure that a hammock would necessarily solve the boredom problem. My other rodents use the hammocks to sleep in not to stimulate them.
If a bigger cage is a worry with cost have you considered a bin cage? Or if another cage is really not an option could you try things like scatter feeding or hidden treats or home made crackers to keep your hammy occupied?

I think you're best option for now would be to make a BIN to attach on to the metro seeing this cage has tubes.
If you look in the DIY section there are lots of tips & pictures. I'm sure with more room he will be fine.
