Hi guys, just wanted to say thanks for all the offers of help, it is good to know you are all out there. I was just so devastated when I saw him today that I was hopeless in the afternoon at work and just felt so wretched for him.
I had seen the hamsters in the tanks and heard this keening noise and looked up to see the most gigantic hamster I had ever seen crying quietly and knawing the bars of this tiny cage.
He has no play things or chews just a nest made out of the unsafe fluffy bedding!
I am going to try and get there first thing tomorrow (will be late for work but what the hell) and make sure he is there and they know I want to take him, will try and persuade them again on the donation side but I don't think they will budge).
I thought maybe I could take my cage in that I use for transport it is about 40cm x 30cm but clean and with toys and have him put in this so he is used to it a bit by the time I pick him up at 5:00pm. What do you think?
It will be about a 45 minute journey home.
Cage wise I have the large tank one I bought at Queenswood which I was going to save for a Syrian anyway. My plan is to bring him home and let him settle in and then see how he is behaviour wise, as if I feel he needs more time, care or expertise than I can give him then I will certainly be giving you a shout Holly/Basia as he deserves much much better than the start he has had.
He maybe yours yet Holly!
Fingers crossed he is still there as the last thing I want too is for him to be sold with a cage from that place as they only had small Crittertrails available!
I really wasn't sure what OH would say when I broached the subject, but his reaction was "Go get that hamster!!"
