Default Long time no speak, HC!

Hi everyone! Been a little while since I've managed to get on here, hope you and all your little ones are well. Just a little update on my 8, who are all thriving well and happy.

Frohike is still as skinny as every, has a many loose stools as ever, and runs around like a maniac without a care in the world as ever too! She's about a year old now and I'm genuinely surprised she's still with me, as she's such a tiny, sickly looking little thing. But I keep her diet high in protein and she is always bright-eyed, ears up, happy to see me, and as fast as a robo when she wants to be!

My little sweetie Langly is as shy with other people as she always was, but spends every evening cuddling up to me affectionately. I don't know what I'd do without her.

Byers thinks that she has more important things to contend with than me, so we have less cuddle time and more 'just-put-me-in-the-playpen-already-mummy' time, lol.

Max is becoming quite the cuddler in his old age! He used to shy away from most contact and not really be interested in me, but recently he's decided that he likes sitting in my hand and having his back stroked. He's absolutely beautiful still too, with his creamy coat and his ever-more chubster status!

If hamsters had a socialite equivalent, Maggie would be it. She'd like it if I just popped her in my pocket and carried her about all day, she always wants to know what's going on.

Albi has recently rearranged his sleeping schedule so it now covers approx 20 hours a day, rather than the before standard of 18. I've never met a more lazy creature in my life! He sleepily sends kisses to all the other LH greys on the forum.

Charlie is anywhere between 2 and 2 and a half now (he was an RSPCA rescue so unsure) and is showing signs of slowing down - not wanting to come out as much, less wheel time, more sleep time. He's also become a bit cage territorial recently, not sure why. His water bottle is at the back of the viv and when I've reached into the grab it he's bit my wrist a couple of times, which he's never done before. I think a rearrangement is in order so his water bottle and food dish is by the door, might make him feel better than me putting my hand right inside his little home.

Last but not least, my little robo! When I finally managed to tame Cassie enough that she would allow me to hold her and tip her upside down without panicking, I discovered that she is in fact a he. . So little Cassie is now little Cas, and I don't think he's ever going to be much of a people hamster. He likes to 'talk' to me through the glass doors of his viv, and once he's in hands he's quite calm. But the actually lifting him process is just horrible still - he's terrified of hands coming towards him and it's really difficult to even herd him into a tube or ball. I'm at a bit of a loss of where to go from here about that (he still won't take treats from my hands) but I'll persevere.

So that's everyone my end! I shall try to be about a bit more, I miss you all!

I'm glad for the update, glad to know they're all alive and well,
Charlie may be slowing down but that by no means he's going to leave any time soon, just as you think they're slowing down they seem to rally the cage aggression might be that his eyesight is going - or maybe he's just grumpy. My girl has intermittent cage aggression.. so could just be tha.

hope they continue to flourish

Katie - hee, thanks. Charlie still seems very happy and healthy, just a little slower, so I'm hopeful he'll be sticking around for a while yet. They eyesight thing never occurred to me though, that could explain a lot. I'll see if I can have a test of that, thanks.

Mel - I'm so glad Squishy and Roo are enjoying married life in the tank! Far better it being used for that than being just sat on my kitchen floor.
