Will they forget me? Or forgive me?
I feel a little pathetic. My OH and I have a fantastic trip coming ahead at the end of November, and we're going to be away for 6-7 weeks. I know it's going to be great, and I feel very guilty that sometimes, while my partner is talking about it, I'm feeling some dread inside.
I think I'm going to miss my hammies very badly. I've not been away from them this long before. The longest I've been away at one stretch is about two days, and even then, I was missing them and looking at their pictures before I went to bed. (Weird, I know.)
Obviously, this is not something I can discuss too openly with other folks, since most people would just think I'm nuts as this trip is terrific. But it's just I will miss seeing their funny faces when they wake up, or the funny looks they give sometimes. Hah, Evie's gleeful face when she first tasted porridge with mashed banana! Hamchan's monkey-barring and constant pleading look.
Also, their life spans are so short - I'm a little sick I'll miss 6 weeks of their lives. Then I'm worried - like what if something happens etc.
Rant over. Sorry, I know they'll be in a great holiday home with LRP who knows zillions on hams, and they'll get to "know" Izu, Claudio and Rao.
I just hope they won't forget me, or won't take too long to forgive me when I come home.

I was totally feeling for you and your hams until that point. They are going to be living it up on holiday too! They won't need to forgive you, they will just be glad you are home
From experience, Chewbacca never, ever gave a monkies who was looking after him, provided he could give them the run around and they gave him food. I always found it slightly hurtful to be honest!
Where are you going on your adventure? Excited for you
Don't worry, all will be well with your little ones. x

Re: Will they forget me? Or forgive me?
Why does everyone forget Tobi? XD It's become a bit of a running joke in my house.
I'm certain nothing will happen while they're with me. They'll totter on with their little lives but as soon as you're back they'll want mummy cuddles. I was away from Rin for 2 weeks and she carried on like nothing was wrong but as soon as I got back she was glued to my shoulder for HOURS. XD
It'll be hard missing them. But you'll have the wonderful distraction of a lovely trip!!!

Re: Will they forget me? Or forgive me?
When I went away leaving Jam and The Cloud on what I thought was a lovely seaside break with Mr Poms, The Cloud apparently pretty much hid for two weeks, only launching himself from his nest to bite Mr Poms when he knew he was close enough. he was so relieved when I collected him he was actually lovely to me for a whole two days
They won't forget you at all, but they will be having a lovely holiday

Re: Will they forget me? Or forgive me?
I think probably they won't miss you half as much as you are missing them! Holly is actually away on his hols at the moment with the pet sitter, as I have just come back from a 10 day break and I'm going away today for a long weekend, so I left him there for two weeks rather than stress him out with two trips in the car.
Last time he went to the "hammy hotel" he was fine, just came out and gave me a sniff like he was saying, oh, you again! I was wondering what happened to you! But the last two days at home without him have been weird, I've really been missing him and his little face looking at me.

Chances are that they will be just as excited to see you when you get home.
I always hate being away from my rats, and now my toffee bear, even for a few days - 10 being the longest and they all went mental when i got home and let them out.
I'd say get them something from your hols and they will be extra excited to see you home.

Re: Will they forget me? Or forgive me?
Aww, thanks everyone for the reassurances. It's nice to hear from others who have been away, and all's fine.
I know they'll be healthy and happy with LRP (talk about hammy 5* hotel) but I guess I was just afraid they'll forget ME.
Tobi, yes of course! oops, bad me. Yay, Evie and Tobi together in one place, both black girls with fancy names.

Re: Will they forget me? Or forgive me?
Give a photo of yourself to LRP and get her to show it to the hammies every night when they wake up. . They won't forget you. Will have luxury bed and breakfast accommodation and will be looking forward to your return.
I know what you mean about if somehting happens whilst your away. Think about it now and leave instructions with LRP.
