Re: Forum language
I make a conscious effort not to swear...on this forum. XD If anyone ever joins any of my other forums. Poor you. :3
I think sometimes people just forget it's a family forum.

I'm no prude but I am thinking of young people (and older people) and people from different cultures who may well have different values to ours. It isn't a great example to set really is it and most things can be said effectively without the use of such words.
If in doubt then just don't use it.

I don't think it's necessary either, there are plenty of words to convey what we mean without resulting to swearing. I was merely making a point, there are different degrees and widely different views on what is considered swearing. Most forums adopt the NSFW rule in regards to all content, not just for swearing, which often negates the need to define what swearing is.

Re: Forum language
Er...My dad just used to threaten to boil the tortoise if I was disrespectful.
He'd never actually.
I mean for one thing...It was his tortoise.
But I didn't want to be responsible for Doki's death

Re: Forum language
My mum used to clean out my mouth with soap if I swore. I am sure this would now be under the child abuse umbrella. Joke was on her as I actually quite liked the taste and still swear like a trooper although being a teacher I have a very good off button for it.

Re: Forum language
Being part Irish meant swearing wasn't an issue for me as a child. It was a natural thing the whole family did! God love the Irish .
However, there is a time and place and I agree that it shouldn't really be done on HC.
