The cat is out of the bag!!

That is exactly what bothers me the most. I am a very cheerful person and when I am happy or excited about something I wanna share it with people I love but sometimes they just don't wanna hear it. While my parents do like my pets they still have no time to pay me any attention so I just stay in my room and talk to Latte. And then they wonder why I want so many pets and why I'm almost always over my OH house.

But my sister is the worst. At times when I say something to her she makes no effort at a reply so I just sit quietly. And when she hears me say I got something for my hamster she tells me I need to stop wasting my money on it. And don't let me tell her the I'm taking Latte to the vet to spend about $50 on a check up. She drills me about wasting my time and money.

Just so you know I have plenty friends but at this stage in life most of them are either gone away to school, have children or got married and simply have no time for me. So all I have are my family, work friends, my OH and Latte. I am a naturally optimistic person but when there are so many negative people around it kinda puts a damper on your spirit sometimes.

Does anybody else feel that it seems like almost no one wants to listen to you?

I looove my hamsters and everytime something new happens with them, I just have to tell somebody! I talk about them to my friends a lot and am constantly showing them pictures. They like animals too but you can tell they are just being polite. They just nod and say 'yeh' a lot and I can tell they stop listening after not very long. I understand that I talk about them a lot and it's probably a bit irritating but I just can't help it! I get so excited everytime they do something cute ^^

I would definitely tell your sister to keep some of her opinions to herself. Tell her if she continues insulting you, you could find some things about her to criticize, which wouldn't lead to anything good. You really don't have to explain yourself with a benign hobby like that. I know it's often difficult with family, but I find that persistence and determination to get my point across eventually leads to some mutual boundaries. Good luck, and don't take her words to heart! She sounds unhappy, which helps her behave this way.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who has the urge to tell somebody about my hamster and what they do. I know sometimes my OH doesnt wanna hear it but he knows I love Latte so he sits and listens to me. I can tell when he get tired of hearing me too.

I think your sister is the sad one, it sounds to me like she is jealous! It's good that your parents are on your side. You just stick to your guns and tell her it's none of her business.

sorry for swearing i didnt realise, i had a running with my other half over an injured pigeon, o well the pigeon is still doing fine anyway heh, sorry to go off track a sec x
