I dont often use the flash (prefer daylight photographs) but I reckon its fine, as long as you arent right in their faces.

Unless you're going to rig up studio lighting, or have a fantastically expensive DSLR lens, it's very difficult to find enough light for non-flash photography.

These were flashed from a distance of about two feet; as I said earlier, Nimrod didn't flinch/blink/react at all.

Someone's now going to tell me he's probably blind...

None of my lot flinch or anything when using flash.

I don't use flash for my gecko though as she's albino and I've been told it can potentially blind them as they have such sensitive eyes.

Neither of mine seem affected by the flash. I don't get right up in their faces, prefer to use the zoom. They don't seem to notice at all.

ETA: Nimrod is gorgeous, I'm such a fan of that colouring. Can someone tell me what the correct name for the colouring is?

None of my hamsters have ever reacted to the flash either.

coco has never reacted to the flash either, i just dont get too close though
