Sandy went out last night on an adventure...Unsupervised!!! The little stinker escaped!
I have been using the burrowing maze attachment from super pet critter trail as her nesting house, attached to her other cages. I had the openings for tubes capped off because she doesn't need more tubes. A few nights ago she was peeking through one of the caps at my roommate and he was teasing her by spinning the cap, in no way was he harming her, but this made her realize the caps move...
Ever since then I've noticed she's more interested in the caps, but had no trouble with her. Until last night. I fell asleep on the couch after dinner and Matt went upstairs to feed the hamsters. He noticed Sandy had popped the cap off of her burrowing maze and was free in the bedroom somewhere. Luckily the door had been closed!
Matt says he searched for an hour before waking me up. When I got to our room I started crawling around and calling her with this clicky noise I make to all my hamsters.
She poked her little head out from in between two shirts in our wardrobe and started crying out!!! She had climbed four and a half feet up to the top of the clothes! Matt thinks she was scared to be alone for over an hour.
I scooped her up and checked her for injuries, luckily she's just fine
But I won't be using the burrowing nest again until I can secure it better! She's just too clever and mischevious!
