Congratulations on the new additions Chris both look Normal though they obviously have different recessives which appear to be greatly influencing their coat colours.

Is the biter just aggressive with you, or with his brother/sister too (have you sexed them yet)?



My Alfie was a terrible nipper when he arrived and it's just taken perseverence and a lot of sore fingers to get him mostly handleable. Babyboos gave me a few tips on calming him down in this thread "Teaching Alfie not to bite" http://www.candacebell.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=201



For a while it seemed he'd never stop biting but now he's an angel with me once he's out of his cage (still savages anyone else but he likes me!), the only time he's bitten me recently was when I was clipping his nails finally and he didn't like being restrained, I can even pick him up directly in his cage sometimes now without having to take the whole cage apart and pick him up in a tube or similar. So there's hope

I've been gone this weekend so here's an update.

Their names are Zip&Zap. The bitter is Zip and the other Zap.

The bitter is the only one that bites, the other required no taming-it acted like it knew me when I first got him.Once it is in the palm of my hand it dosent try to bite, only when it sees my fingers in the cage.

When I sexed them I found this out. Zap is a male, and Zip??Couldn't tell good cause it would not stop squiggling and it's bottom was pretty furry.But from what I could tell it may be a female. Hope not, both tanks said males, but as I learned you really can't trust PETsMART %100. Also believe that it may( I said may ) be a female because Zap always follows Zip and sniffs him/her. How long does it take for dwarf to have babys, and are there any ways to tell if it is pregnant?

Emma, I just read the topic about Alfie bitting, and I think Zip and Alfie are twins! Every thing you wrote is identical to the way Zip behaves-unhamster-like.I actually tried the toilet paper tube trick today after several nips to my fingers.
