Default Introducing Vala the Golden Hammy

Following my visit to the Northern Hamster Club show yesterday, I came home with another new hammy addition to the family called Vala. Vala is a 9 months old female Golden Hamster from the Carrington hamstery. I have a real soft spot for golden hamsters (yes, I know there are a lot more exotic types out there, but goldens (or any agouti type for that matter) do it for me for some reason, and it was love at first sight when i saw Vala (not sure if the feeling was mutual though! ha! ha!).

I was relying on Spud's Mum (my partner, Teresa) to be the bad cop in my moment of weakness and stop me from coming home with yet another hamster, but her resolution was about as strong as mine when she saw her, despite what she says about it being all down to me. I think Vala has some really stunning markings and very cute face. Here are a few (ok, maybe eight, ahem!) photos below of her.

Is it safe to come out now?...

Someone has been pouching things...

Ok, think she is trying to tell me she has had enough of the camera now...

She's really lovely Brabmble's Dad. I think I would have come home with her too. Great photos as ever.
My other half loves goldens. He had a pair of golden hamsters when he was young and bred babies from them. When the children were small and we bought a hamster he made me buy a golden one and when I went to get Chunky and Berry he really tried to persuade me to get a golden female but I knew I would only get golden babies then so I held strong and bought Berry.

She is adorable and I was lucky to meet her in the fur at the show. Maybe its a thing about men and goldens. BigD only likes hamsters with stripes and attitude. That's why he chose Sonni! Hope she settles in well.

Hello Bramble's dad it is Sonni's dad here. Well I support your Golden fan club. Vala is a real looker (not as cute as Sonni of course) . I also rather like silver greys and anyone with cheek stripes. In our house I am outnumbered by fluffy cream things with frilly skirts though

I am pleased you liked the photos Basia and pophammy. And yes, it was impossible to resit buying her.

That's really funny souffle, I was just about to post the same thing about it seeming to be a man thing liking golden hamsters.
The apple of my dad's eye is (no, not me ), a golden hamster, hammy. My mum says that each night at spot on 7.30 he goes heads out of the living room to where hammy's cage is kept. Hammy will be waiting for my dad. My dad then takes him in to the room where he will explore the room and sit on my dads knee watching tv with him for a big part of the night. Apparently they are inseperable!

Pophammy, i agree with you, Vala is a lovely name. We never chose the name Vala, Sheryl had already named her that and it seemed a shame to re-name her when it was a nice name and Vala seems to respond to it.

Sonni is a real cutie thats for sure. I love the pic in your profile where sonni is stood up next to the pink cabinet. I loved Bailey too, she looked stunning. I think you are right, it is somethig about the cheek flashes.

Basia - I have got to say, I also think the pic in your profile of Fuzzy is wonderful too. Fuzzy looks very cuddly and pretty.

Yeah sthomas048, Golden is classed the original hamster.

I didn't realise there were quite so many men on this forum. I knew one or two, but am surprised how many there are, which is nice to see.
