Default My careless mistake!

AHHHH! Two nights ago I made what could have been a bad mistake. When I went to bed, I forgot to close the door of Biscuits cage. About 5 hours later at 4 o'clock I heard a scratching noise but went back to sleep. It woke me up againg at 6 o'clock, so I investigated. As soon as I turned my light on I saw the open cage door. I heard the noise again from behind my dresser (I have a long dresser and Biscuits cage is on top of it) and when I looked Biscuits was wedged between the dresser and the wall. I put my hand back there and he quickly came to me. So from what I figure he was hanging back there (he couldn't go anywhere else) for at least two hours!

I'm very lucky that he didn't runaway or get hurt. That was a mistake I hope never happens again!

Default Relief

Oh Chris I am so glad all was well in the end - how was Biscuits when you returned him to his enclosure - a bit thirsty I would imagine, poor dude! What a relief you found him when you did. I am sure you will be too paranoid to let this happen again for a long-time! Give him a scruffle from me.

I’m always paranoid about that happening, Gerald’s cage door is secured with a garbage bag twist tie just incase one day he figures out he could push it open lol.

I bought some plastic tubes for my gerbils to run through my because I’m worried they might somehow chew apart the plastic locks that hold them together I took packing tape and wrapped it around each connection piece lol.

I’m glad that everything turned out ok. I have to be very careful with my lovebird Houdini as he has free flight of the house pretty much every day from the time I wake up and go to bed and there have been a couple times my husband and I went out and I remember suddenly that I didn’t put Houdini back in his cage and we have two cats and well Houdini has no fear or realization that my cats WILL kill him if he ever decided to fly on the floor and visit with them

Thankfully one time the in laws were home and put him back for me when I called and the other times Houdini stayed in his happy hut inside his cage like a good bird.
