no hamster leashes are not good at all, if you put them tight enough to stop the hamster slipping them you can cause damage to the hamster himself, if you dont, then the hamster can escape.

a hamster is much happier doing his own thing without any restraint, and if floor time isnt really an option (ie too many hiding places/dangers) then a ball is a much safer option then a leash

it's not mean by itself, but it can be mean if you use it the wrong way, like for example pulling the hamster.. it could be good if you just use it to know where your hamster is, or for taking it for a walk outside (in a garden or forest) safely

These are not safe at all. Hamsters don't need taken for walks and they can easily damage themselves or even strangle themselves if they panic. I don't know why they are allowed to sell these

yea I guess you're right
I wouldn't ever use it myself, not that I've seen any hamster-sized leash in any pet shop, but just saying

I think you mean this?
Small Pet Harness & Leash - Small Pet - Sale Category - PetSmart

I don't think it's for hamsters (looks like it's for guinea pigs and ferrets).

The rest are for ferrets and rabbits:

Sadly these things do exist. I saw one in the Hamster section on ebay just the other day while browsing. They are gimmicks pure and simple and in my mind, just another way for a child to potentially harm or even kill a hamster. These commercial people should be stopped from selling stupid things like this. Harnesses are for horses, not hamsters. I would like to meet the idiots who think these things are a good idea and ask them if they have ever owned a hamster because it`s pretty obvious the people who make and market these things are doing it to make money and appeal to the easily led out there.

Hamsters live in natural plains, deserts and sub-lands. Their environments should mirror this in captivity where possible. Anyone who thinks a hamster harness is a good idea should`nt own a hamster. Sad, but true.
