Default Types of Hamsters

Hi,
As you know Theador passed on and i'm looking to get a new hamster .........What are some good types of hamsters?I was thinking of the Roborovski Hamster but there very fast and might be hard to handle. Do any of you have a different type of hamster that maybe i could get?

If you look in the articles section you will find a useful introduction and information article on all types of hamster available on the pet market. I would say that robos are the hardest to tame, handle and are really only suitable for adults and older children. I would suggest you do not choose this type. They can escape very easily as they are so small and so speedy.

A robo is more of a watch pet.
The best pet for interaction is a syrian. Campbell's russians aren't too bad and you can keep a couple of the same sex together and it's adorable to watch them sleep and interact with each other.

Depends where you are getting your hamster from - a well bred russian would be a better choice than a pet shop bought Syrian. Check out local resuces and then make your choice from there.
