He sounds like he is definitly one of the Russian Dwarf Hamsters. I would say either a mottled campbells or a Winter white coming out of winter coat. Has he always been the same colour? There is the possability of him being a hybrid too as they can come in a variety of colours. If he has a long, bendy tail he could be a Chinese as they come in a dominant spot but he does not sound like that. Do you have any pictures?
Check out this link as there are some good pics of different colours you can compare

Edit: Souffle has misread. If he looks like Gerald he will be a syrian.

But if Theador is saying the hamster looks just like Gerald in the HC logo, that is a syrian hamster?

Yes if you can get pictures Theador that would help, do you remember what the pet store called your hamsters? Did you get a care sheet with it that might say what kind it is?

It does sound as though he is a Syrian. Here is a link to an article about the colours of Syrian hamsters, hopefully you can work out what he is!

If your hammy is like the one in the picture he is a Golden banded Syrian. Sometimes bands are not complete (in fact they are rarely complete) Mostly they have a white band round the middle-ish area with spots of colour in amongst the white. The usually have coloured fur on the head and rear end and the amount can vary a lot.
