Heh, I've really been bitten with the bug.
Well Hamsters seemed to have consumed my life all right, not only do I want to make my little Sephy a new house I'm also considering getting myself a second Syrian and making them a home and perhaps two Roborvski's too.
I'm pleased I still live with my Dad and sister otherwise I'll have a room devoted to Hammies.
Now I just need to find a Breeder nearish to where I live!

As you are in the Midlands have a look at this site then e-mail the secretary and enquire about your nearest breeder. There are usually baby hammies for sale at the shows so look on the show list to see if there is one near to you. Hope this helps

Looking at this site has made me want to show Sephy. Does anyone on here show their hamster regularly? What are the requirements?

We show the Custard hamsters regularly. Sephy looks like quite a nice black though blacks do not have as long a show life as some other colours as they tend to brown with age. The standard allows for white feet and chin but as little as possible is desirable. Your best bet is to join your local club and go to a show. There is always a pet class that you can enter on the day. You do not need to join to enter this. Ask the people there to advise you whether you should enter Sephy in the main show next time. There are also dwarf classes so take them all! You can hire show pens for the main show but pets just need to be in a safe cage or pet carrier. If you look at the schedule for the show on the main club site you will find all the details. Sephy is likely to be an any other colour, short haired syrian class entry and you can enter duplicate classes for Junior if under 16 & Novice as a new shower. Membership costs about £8 a year and you get a monthly journal. Show entry is only about 25p. It is fun and a great way to meet hammy people.
