Naming dilemma
Hi all
When we got our little Syrian 3 weeks ago we were told it was a boy which is why we chose the name Simba. We recently found out she is actually a girl and we decided to keep the name Simba but I just don't think it suits her. I feel like I want her to have a little girls name! What does everyone else think? Would it be weird to change her name? Also, any suggestions for girly names??

Re: Naming dilemma
Nala or Kiara would be obvious choices Maybe Sarafina or Sarabi (adult lions in film) haha
You could keep her name, I think it sounds find but if you think she'd suit another name then go ahead.

Re: Naming dilemma
Its really up to you, Simba sounds kinda unisex to me anyway - if she seems to recongnise it I would be tempted to keep it. But she is your hammy and if you want to give her a different name you can!! Have you got an idea of what sort of thing you would change it to?

Re: Naming dilemma
I'd like to go with a girls name like Poppy or Honey, something cute like that. She doesn't seem to recognise her name, that's why I thought it might be ok to change it as we have only had her a few weeks so I don't think it would confuse her.

I think it's up to you. You need her to have a name that you are happy with though. I do like the name simba but also the girly names are cute too. You haven't had her long so I don't think changing her name would be too bad now but I would do it sooner rather than later.

Re: Naming dilemma
I have had the same problem, but the other way round! We now think our female Daisy -that we got 3 weeks ago! - is in fact a male! We had a job trying to think of a name that suits the hammy and that was non-gender specific incase he is actually a she ....... the debate still continues!! I think changing the name is fine and Honey is a lovely name.

Re: Naming dilemma
Thank you! I think it suits her better. What name's are you thinking of for your hammy?
