A little worried
I know i'm worrying over nothing but i need some opinions from my H.C family.. here goes... I'm not sure if you're familiar with the circumstances around how Pickle came to live with us.. basically a girl from work didnt want him anymore so i took him in. My mate from work texted me this evening and then called me as she was speaking to the girl in work about random stuff and the girl was asking if i still had "the hamster" and saying that as technically she paid for him she owns him and can have him back at any time she wants. I don't know much about this girl as she works in a different department and there are about 300 staff in our callcentre but i'm really scared she will demand him back. Should i approach her?

Re: A little worried
The cheek of it!! She can't have him back. So what is she paid for him. I wouldn't approach her at all. But if she did come looking for maybe just offer to give her the money he cost.
I don't think she will ask for him back as at the end of the day she couldn't be bothered with Pickles the first time around.

Well £7 isn't going to go far is it! I would say that is the average for a hammy. Honestly don't worry. I'm afraid I'm the type who would cause a scene even if it was at work if she came to find me. I'd let everyone know that she gave him up.

Re: A little worried
Omg, i cant believe someone would actually do that. That is horrible. People are so ...grrr!!! Well... if she does not say anything directly to you then i would just ignore her. If she asks for money make a written agreement, print it, let her sign it that it is yours and give her the money. Something like a bill from the shop.
Anyway i cant imagine she would... sue you and go to a lawyer for stuff like that. I guess she was just talking nonsense... if you print an agreement and both of you sign it that might scare her away...

Re: A little worried
aww WHATEVER you do, do not give pickle back!! pickle belongs to you now and you do not owe her anything. if she has a problem you could offer her the money and perhaps give back the horrible cage, but i wouldn't ever give pickle back. you dont owe that and if she wanted 'that hamster' she would have kept it the first time around!! im so sorrry i'd be upset too!

Re: A little worried
Do not worry Womblehands.
The facts are that she GAVE Pickle to you. Giving something means that you actually change the ''ownership'' (what a word!) from you to the person you give the item to.
It's like giving a present on a birthday. You won't demand that back either would you?
She did not want to take care of Pickle, you came across and you did. If she wants to see money, tell her that you would have to charge her for the food of HER hamster, the bedding, the nesting material and stuff as well, so in fact she would owe you money! 2 people can play that nasty game
Let us know if something happens!

Re: A little worried
Aww how horrible for you hun, I would be worried and angry too. But as all theo thers have said - Pickels is your now, you took her in and gave her love and attention that this girl didnt, that means more than any reciept for the pet shop.
I would be inclined to play Redames game, if she asks you for money for the hammy and the cage etc, say fine, but ask her to reimburse you for all the food, toys, bedding etc you have had to buy, if after all its 'her' hamster. I think you will find that she shuts up pretty quickly, but my guess is that she wont even come and speak to you. Do let us know what happens.
